We’re clear that investing in a good environmental policy saves money as well as protecting the environment. We are committed in doing all we can and for the team at Capital Apartments it all starts with education, we want to do our very best and continue to improve.

We are committed to sustainable purchases, we check that all our cleaning products come from sustainability-marketed products. We have a list of products that meet this criteria.  

• We encourage our guests to use the heating controls. The first step in cutting carbon emissions is to turn off the heating or make use of overnight storage heating.
• We encourage our landlords to upgrade heating systems
• Draught-proofing where necessary
• Low energy lighting in all apartments
• Energy efficient appliances
• Low carbon travel
• We encourage reduce, reuse, recycle we recycle metal, glass, plastic, card and paper and almost all our waste is recycled or reused
• Working with suppliers who have good environmental policies to reduce packaging waste and improve the environmental impact of all products purchased.
• Openly communicating our policies and best practices to stakeholders and monitor and review our environmental performance annually.

What you can do to help…

We’ve compiled a list of a few things you can do to help reduce your own waste, whether on holiday or at home. 

• Switch off lights when you’re not using them
• Leave TV on standby (better than turning them off from the walls)
• Unplug phone chargers when not in use 
• Close the windows when the heating is on 
• Turn off taps when you are cleaning your teeth or shaving 
• Shower time - showers use a third less of water than a bath 
• Cuppa - only boil the amount of water that you need 
• Recycle - make sure you recycle as much as possible 
• Reusable - pack your water bottle, reusable coffee cup & shopping bags 
• Shop local - instead of going to your local supermarket how about your local market?
• Ditch the straws - plastic straws will still be on our planet for 400 years so why not try paper, vege ware or hay straws?
